About the Event
When: July 24, 9 am
Where: Start at Silent Custom Cyclery Parking Lot, the course heads north along county roads until Ute Trail, heading east until Surface Creek Road, then finish at the intersection of Main and Cedar Mesa Road (so the riders have a ramp to ride up and slow down). Slide Contest at the sidewalk by Silent Custom Cyclery before the race.
Description: This is a true test of strength and endurance. Simple loop around Surface Creek Road to Ute Trail, then back via 2375 Rd, finishing on Main Street. Riders are to lock up their back tire and skid as long as they can at the finish line to see who can skid the furthest! Pick your gear ratio wisely because going down can be harder than going up!
Equipment Restrictions: Fixed gear, single-speed, no hand brakes: BYOB or use one of our Certified, Race-Ready bikes (First come First served on in house bikes, limited loaner supply available)
Safety Requirements: Bicycle helmet
Course Conditions: All paved roads, significant elevation gain at moderate grades; the descent is a consistent downhill grade that will test any fixed-gear rider. Equipment Disadvantages: Freewheel Singlespeed allowed with hand brake -1:00 (60 second) penalty Handbrakes - -0:40 second penalty (1:40 total penalty) Age Restrictions:none Age Groups: Except for riders under 12 years, there are separate categories for boys/girls, men, and women.
