Cedaredge Alley Cat Race

Where: Start at Silent Custom Cyclery and the course is TBD throughout the town Description: This is a tribute to the race invented by the New York City bicycle messengers. It is a checkpoint race with no set course. Riders are to proceed however they can to the checkpoints which are scattered all over town, covering 15-20 miles total.

Equipment Restrictions: Fixed gear, single-speed, no handbrakes: BYOB or use one of our Certified, Race-Ready bikes (First come First served on in house bikes, limited loaner supply available)

Safety Requirements: Bicycle Helmet

Course Conditions: Riders start dismounted from the bike with their bikes laid down on the ground. At the crack of the gun, racers run to grab their bikes and proceed to the first checkpoint. There is no course, but each rider must complete each checkpoint in order and can choose any suitable course. No significant hill climbs as all checkpoints are in town. 

Age Restrictions: none 

Equipment Advantages/Disadvantages:   Geared bike - -0:30 penalty 

Age Groups: Except for riders under 13 years, there are separate categories for boys/girls, men, and women.

         Old enough to ride through12 years 13 years - 19 years

        20 years – 35 years

        36 years – 49 years

        50 years and older

Prize: The winner in each category receives a jackpot based on the number of participants and some cool bike parts!
