About the Event
An Alley Cat race is a checkpoint race that tests your speed as well as navigation skills on a traditional messenger bike - aka as a fixed gear.
Rules:
1. Fixed gears only
2. No brakes
3. You can break these rules, but we might laugh at you, and also beat you.
Checkpoints are not revealed until just before the race after registration closes and your bike is parked at the start (the parking lot by the Pump Track at Confluence Park). Hint: there will be at least one checkpoint on Garnet Mesa, so prepare those legs! JUST SHOW UP if you want to participate! Be there at 6 pm on July 23rd!! No RSVP is necessary! This ride is critical mass style. JUST SHOW UP! There might be cops... be prepared for anything. This is true freedom!
Here's how scoring works:
All riders must lay their bikes down by 6:25 pm at which time they will be handed a manifesto of five well-known locations within the city limits of Delta, Colorado. Each rider must complete the manifesto in order and provide proof by stopping at the checkpoint, leaning their bike in the background, and getting a selfie with their phone with the bike and the spot on the manifesto. Don't care if the phone has service or not, just as long as it can take selfies. The winner will be verified at the finish. Delta is very spread out - prepare for a fairly long ride! There will be no support!! The ride starts at 6:30 sharp!!
